Real opportunity for villagers to plan for the future

Villagers in Lhanbryde have become the latest to be given the chance to help shape the future of their community.

Planning for Real® is a consultation process which puts local residents in pole position in deciding how their local community should look in years to come.

Moray Council’s community support unit will be hosting a preliminary meeting at Lhanbryde Community Centre on Tuesday, June 21 at 7pm to explain how Planning for Real® works and how villagers can become involved.

Similar projects are already taking place elsewhere in Moray at Dufftown, Aberlour, Portgordon and Forres.

It is hoped to establish a working group of local residents to take the Lhanbryde project forward and to involve local people of all ages in creating a 3D map of how they would like the village to look in the future.

Community support worker Sarah Crowe, who will facilitate the project, said: “We hope as many people as possible will come along to the meeting to find out what Planning for Real® is all about.

“The ultimate aim is to develop an action plan based on what local people themselves want and to create a vision for the Lhanbryde of the future.”
