“A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”

Jane Wentworth Associates will become the National Museum’s branding consultant in conjunction with the new museum at Vestbanen in Oslo. JWA has previously worked with institutions such as V&A, Tate, Guggenheim, and the National Gallery of Denmark.

After having monitored the National Museum over time, JWA refers to the partnership as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. “We have watched closely as the next chapter in the story of the National Museum has been unfolding during the last four years,” says Jo Marsh, director of new business at Jane Wentworth Associates. “Building on our previous experience in the UK, Scandinavia, and beyond, Jane Wentworth Associates is thrilled to embark on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with the museum at this key moment in Norway’s cultural renaissance. The National Museum will not only be a museum for Norway, but a museum for the world.”

Astrid Dalaker, director of communications at the National Museum, is pleased with having secured JWA’s services. “There was tremendous interest in this commission,” she notes. “But there was nonetheless no doubt whatsoever that Jane Wentworth Associates was the outstanding candidate. We know we’re in the best of hands as we begin our collaboration with Jane Wentworth and her team.”

The new National Museum is slated to open six years from now at Vestbanen in downtown Oslo. The new building is meant to highlight the National Museum as an internationally prominent art and cultural institution and to provide a boost to the visual arts in Norway. The National Museum’s vision is to create a new future for art. As Dalaker explains, “Our goal is for the National Museum to be a meeting point for art lovers from both Norway and abroad. Our partnership with JWA allows us to develop entirely new thoughts and ideas about how the museum can increase the public’s interest in and enthusiasm about our cultural heritage, both in the new building and on digital platforms.”
