Brief History

Oticon is a Danish manufacturer of hearing aids and one of the most trusted brands in the industry.  They were established in 1904 by Hans Demant, he was inspired by his wife who was hard of hearing, his desire was to help her lead a better life.  This philosophy can be found in the design and performance of their hearing aids, their mission statement is ‘we put people first’.

Their latest design for 2010 is the Oticon Agil.  The Agil is a next generation wireless hearing aid.  The concepts behind it are designed to help you understand more without using as much energy, which basically means you will experience sound the way it is supposed to be.  Your brain will find it easier to process and pick out certain noises to provide a better picture of the environment you are in.  You will find it easier to determine what an individual is saying when more than one person is talking, and you will also be able to determine which direction the sound is coming from.  For example a car passing by, or being called from someone out of view, allowing you to pin point them in an instant.

Oticon has introduced wireless capability to many of their hearing aids, bringing your hearing aid experience to the 21^st century.  These hearing aids will be able to communicate with other devices making your life a lot easier.  This will no doubt assist many individuals in all kinds of working environments in their daily life.  The product line used to communicate with your hearing aids is known by Oticon as Connectline.  It allows users to comfortably use the phone, listen to music, or watch television through your hearing aids without disturbing others.

There are three main devices which make up Connectline.  Firstly there is a neck worn remote control called the streamer which links to your hearing aids allowing you to pair with other devices.  Then there is the Connectline TV, which is a box that connects to your television allowing you instantly pick up sound when it is switched on.  Thirdly there is the Connectline Telephone, a box which allows you to pair with landline telephones and answer calls from your streamer.  The streamer will connect with mobile phones with Bluetooth technology without any other devices needed.  You could also connect to PC’s or laptops with Bluetooth capability and mp3 players.
