Every year, thousands of Northumbria graduates leave the University to make their mark. For them, graduating is just where the story begins. Jack Parker was one of only nine students from his secondary school to go to university. After watching a doctor spend an hour manually measuring vessels from an MRI scan, he set out to change it, and today, as CEO and co-founder of AI healthcare company AIATELLA (@aiatella), Jack is cutting cardiovascular diagnosis times from over 30 minutes to under three. 🗣️ "I want to change the narrative about university education, by showing how knowledge from Northumbria can be practically applied to solve real-world problems.” Dr Liam Pearson-Noseworthy's journey started differently - five GCSEs, no clear plan, and a job at Northumbria's Sport Central. From there, he spent five years as a personal trainer, before an Access to HE course led him to undergraduate and master's degrees. He returned to Northumbria as a lab technician and has since completed a fully funded PhD. Different starting points, same destination: graduates equipped to shape the world of work, not just enter it. As Andrew Haxell, Director of Graduate Futures (@nugraduatefutures), puts it: "Whether they're mentoring, sharing their stories or opening doors, alumni are helping to shape and inspire the next generation." 🔗 Swipe through to see more, and discover the full feature in The North Edit via the link in our bio. #TheNorthEdit #NorthumbriaUniversity #GraduateSuccess #GraduateOutcomes

Some universities teach students about the world - Northumbria puts them in it 🌍 Real-world learning is built into every course at Northumbria, from live business challenges to global design competitions, students get hands-on experience that no classroom alone can replicate. Northumbria graduates Amber Morley (@ambermorleydesign) and Khalil Abdulrahman (@khalil.archi.ve) took that all the way to the 2025 Venice Biennale, the world’s most prestigious architecture exhibition, working on a live brief to reimagine a historic Newcastle building as modern living space during their time studying Interior Architecture. 🗣️ "It was an incredible experience to see our work showcased alongside inspiring projects from students across Europe. I had the opportunity to share my ideas with an international audience, something I am very grateful for." - Khalil Abdulrahman Students in the Business Clinic took on a genuine recruitment challenge for EY, while Elle Fox gained real courtroom and casework experience through the Law in the Community project at the Citizens Advice Bureau. As Dr Ed Cottam, Director of the Business Clinic explains: "We give students an experience that no classroom alone can replicate.
