Rugby World Cup 2015: Webb Ellis Cup Tour

Northumbria University is delighted to host the Webb Ellis Cup as part of the international Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour The tour has seen the Webb Ellis Cup showcased to audiences around the world as part of the build-up to Rugby World Cup 2015. On 10 June Prince Harry along with Rugby World Cup winners Jonny Wilkinson and Will Greenwood launched the UK and Ireland Trophy Tour with 100 days to go until Rugby World Cup 2015. The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will travel through Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and England before arriving at Twickenham Stadium on 18 September ahead of the opening ceremony. Rugby is at the heart of the Trophy Tour schedule, engaging with over 100 clubs, organisations and rugby festivals, from grassroots to elite level, and fans everywhere will have a chance to get a close-up of the Webb Ellis Cup with over 300 events programmed across the 100 day continuous tour. The trophy will be in the North East between 29 July - 8 August and will be at Northumbria University on Sunday 2 August between 11am and 1pm. The Trophy Tour is part of a wider range of activity taking place at Northumbria University, including our role as an official Team Base as we host the Tonga team as they prepare for their group match against New Zealand on 9 October.
