More electrical outlets in the terminal

During March and April more than 600 to 700 new electrical outlets will be installed in the departures hall in both the domestic and international terminals.

“We’ve received a lot of feedback from travellers who want it, and we consequently think it’s an important priority,” says Mariann Hornnes, director of the technical division at Oslo Airport.

There are already over 500 power outlets for charging mobile devices at cafés and restaurants in the terminal, but after a lot of feedback from travellers, several hundred new ones will be installed in the seating areas by the gates. Four to six outlets will be installed under each row of seats at most gates.

To be installed in March and April

“Some travellers want to work or surf the web while sitting at the gate. Now you can be sure that you can charge your PC or smart phone. The trend today is to be available 24/7 and electronic devices have to be charged. To meet these needs, we’re installing numerous charging points throughout the terminal. There are hundreds of seats around the gates, and we will be installing power outlets here in March and April,” says Hornnes.

Charge your mobile with a PowerKiss

Soon, Oslo Airport will offer more than 1,000 electrical outlets in addition to the free wireless network. You can also charge your mobile wirelessly with the PowerKiss service available at the hospitality venues Upper Crust international, Christiania Bar and Monolitten, as well as the OSL Lounge.

“The service works by connecting a wireless charger to your mobile phone. The wireless charger is obtained by paying a deposit of NOK 200 at the check-outs of the selected hospitality venues. When the charger is plugged in, you put your mobile phone on one of the charging stations and the phone will charge the battery wirelessly,” says Hornnes.

PowerKiss is available at many other airports in Europe, so if you want you can bring the charger and reuse it elsewhere.
