Emirates will start operating flights directly to and from Oslo Airport on Tuesday, 2 September this year. “This is one of the fastest-growing airlines in the world and we have been working to get this service in place for a long time,” says Nic. Nilsen, managing director of Oslo Airport.

Based in the United Arab Emirates, the airline will fly from Oslo Airport seven days a week with a Boeing 777-300. The aircraft can carry eight passengers in First Class, 42 in Business and 310 in Economy Class. Total capacity of the route is 220,000 passengers per year.

“We are of course very pleased that Emirates is opening a route from Oslo to Dubai. This is perfectly in line with our strategy of providing long-haul routes to attractive destinations from Oslo Airport,” says Nilsen.

Dubai as a transfer hub

From Dubai, Emirates offers a worldwide network of onward connections, including Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, as well as many others. If you continue your journey with Emirates from Dubai you will also get to fly its flagship A380, an experience in itself.

Increased cargo

The new route will also mean increased cargo capacity from Oslo to Dubai and other destinations. The aircraft has a cargo capacity of up to 23 tonnes.

“We expect the service to be well-received, including by exporters of fresh salmon.”

Departure time from Oslo Airport to Dubai will be 13.55 daily, with the return flight from Dubai leaving at 07.00.

“We look forward to an exciting partnership with Emirates and welcome them to Oslo Airport,” says Nilsen.
