CITY SIGHTSEEING HELPING LOCALS REDISCOVER OXFORD

Tourism in Oxford is bouncing back, as 2,000 visitors per week enjoyed open-top bus tours of the city in June.

City Sightseeing Oxford, owned by Oxford Bus Company, carried 8,000 passengers in June and is expecting another busy month, thanks to the #RediscoverOxford campaign.

Oxfordshire residents are being offered the opportunity to reconnect with the city thanks to a special offer from Oxford Bus Company in support of #RediscoverOxford. Oxford Times readers can still enjoy City Sightseeing Oxford’s open-top bus tours or a visit to Carfax Tower via a free 2for1 voucher.

More than 100 readers who cut out a voucher from the paper have already taken advantage of the offer which is valid on Monday to Fridays until 16th July. When one person purchases a ticket for City Sightseeing Oxford or Carfax Tower, an accompanying adult or child will qualify for a free pass. Please check the voucher for the full terms and conditions.

Phil Southall, Oxford Bus Company Managing Director, said: “June was an encouraging month for City Sightseeing Oxford and we look forward to welcoming more locals on-board as part of the Rediscover Oxford campaign.

“The visitor economy is crucial to the overall good of the city and its ability to bounce back. With COVID-19 restrictions expected to ease further we look forward to continuing to welcome more people to Oxford.”

The #RediscoverOxford partnership spearheaded by Oxford City Council, Experience Oxfordshire, Independent Oxford, Oxford Times, Oxford Mail and Oxford Bus Company is designed to encourage people to visit the city centre and refuel the visitor economy.

The City Sightseeing Oxford tour takes in the city’s famous sites, covering the Oxford Castle, Christ Church College, Magdalen Bridge, Sheldonian Theatre, and Ashmolean Museum. Carfax Tower is the highest building in Oxford City Centre and provides stunning views of the city and the surrounding countryside.
