OXFORD BUS COMPANY ISSUES FINAL CALL FOR ‘BRAND THE BUS’ COMPETITION VOTES

The public have until the end of December to cast their votes in the Oxford Bus Company ‘Brand the Bus’ competition, to have a say in which good cause could be displayed on a double-decker.

The competition offers people the chance to nominate their favourite good cause to be branded on a double-decker bus. The winner will have their logo and messages proudly displayed all over an Oxford Bus Company bus which will operate on its City services. Some 23 entries have been made by local good causes and charities. So far more than 6,500 votes have been cast – and there is still time to take part and vote. The deadline to vote for your favourite entry is 23.59 on December 31st.

The entries are from: Oxford Together On Climate Change, Helen & Douglas House, Pancreatic Cancer Action, Abingdon Riding for the Disabled Group, Reducing the Risk, Shine Oxford, Oxfordshire Autistic Society Information & Support, SeeSaw, Quest for Learning, and Homeless Oxfordshire. Plus, Maggie’s Oxford, Oxfordshire Youth, Sobell House Hospice, Against Breast Cancer, Restore, A Future Without Rubbish, Oxfordshire Mind, Enrych Oxfordshire, Oxford African Caribbean Conversation, Be Free Young Carers, Assisted Reading for Children and A Band of Brothers.

Phil Southall Oxford Bus Company Managing Director said: “We’ve had another great response to our ‘Brand the Bus’ competition and the voting is really taking shape. We encourage anyone who has not yet case their vote to take part and have a say. So many good causes have entered, and the stories are an inspiration to us all.”

The 10 entries that are deemed best according to a public vote will be shortlisted and examined by a judging panel. Prizes will be awarded to the competitors who have, in the panel’s opinion, fulfilled the brief to the highest standard. The Brand the Bus competition is being supported by BBC Radio Oxford and one of its presenters will join the judging panel. The winning organisation will be invited to work with the Oxford Bus Company to design a bus wrap featuring the brand colours, logo and messages of the charity.

Girl Guiding Oxfordshire won the inaugural 2019 Brand the Bus competition and Home-Start Oxford scooped first place this year. Both good causes now have a branded bus emblazoned on a double-decker.
