Oxford University Press joins the Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communications

Oxford University Press is proud to announce its partnership with the Coalition for Diversity & Inclusion in Scholarly Communications (C4DISC) and the adoption of their Joint Statement of Principles.

OUP aims to create a community where everyone can belong and thrive. To truly achieve our mission of excellence in research, scholarship, and education, we must reflect, respect, and represent the world around us. C4DISC works with organizations and individuals within the scholarly communications landscape to foster equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility across the publishing industry and its published outputs. It is widely acknowledged (along with the Joint Commitment, of which OUP is also a participating member) as a key DEI initiative in scholarly communications.

Speaking on the partnership, Deborah Dixon, Publishing Director, Medical Journals at OUP said: “There is a lack of diversity across all aspects of scholarly publishing. Partnering with other industry leaders on important coalitions, like C4DISC, gives us at OUP the opportunity to provide further input into key initiatives, benefit from shared best practice and help improve diversity, equality and inclusion within our organization and across the wider industry.”
