OUP provides access to 130 medical and healthcare eBooks for NHS staff in England

Oxford University Press (OUP) and Health Education England (HEE) have reached an agreement to provide national, online access for all NHS staff and learners in England to over 130 medical and healthcare titles published by OUP.

The agreement covers all the titles in the Oxford Medical Handbooks series as well as Oxford Handbooks in Nursing and the ‘Emergencies In…’ series. It includes several key works such as the Oxford Textbook of Medicine. Individual health trusts also have the option of subscribing to the full Oxford Specialist Handbook Collection at a reduced price.

Health Education England’s national NHS Knowledge and Library Services has funded this invaluable resource as part of their commitment to providing a wide range of digital knowledge resources. The handbooks can now be accessed 24/7 by NHS healthcare staff via their NHS OpenAthens account.

Alastair Lewis, Global Sales Director for OUP’s Academic Division said, ‘I’m really pleased that we have been able to reach this agreement with Health Education England. Now more than ever, we want to make sure that we’re providing our health professionals with the highest quality information as easily as possible’.

Sue Lacey Bryant, National Lead for NHS Knowledge and Library Services in England said, ‘To achieve excellent patient care, staff and learners require seamless access to high quality knowledge resources. This series of OUP handbooks is a well-recognised and highly valued reference for clinicians and learners alike. Health Education England is delighted to make these e-resources readily available to the whole NHS healthcare workforce at any time of day or night.’

The agreement is now live and lasts for 3 years. Find out more about the resources and how to access them on the OUP/HEE landing page.
