Oxford University Press to publish the Chemical Society of Japan’s journals
New agreement to focus on driving the growth of CSJ journals, while maintaining high quality, reputation, and impact.
Oxford University Press (OUP) has announced a major new agreement with the Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ) to publish its two flagship journals, the Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan and Chemistry Letters, from 01 January 2024. The journals will join OUP’s portfolio of more than 500 titles, three-quarters of which are published on behalf of learned and professional societies.
The two CSJ journals are centered around the publication of high-impact research covering all aspects of chemistry. The Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan is focused on the publication of scientific research papers in the fields of Theoretical and Physical Chemistry, Analytical and Inorganic Chemistry, Organic and Biological Chemistry, and Applied and Materials Chemistry. Chemistry Letters offers rapid publication of reviews and letters on current topics across chemistry, and is tailored for technically knowledgeable, non-specialists in the field.
Speaking about the new agreement, Rhodri Jackson, Publishing Director at OUP, said: “We are delighted to embark on a new collaboration with the Chemical Society of Japan. We look forward to working together to build on the impact, sustainability, and innovation of the CSJ portfolio, particularly as we navigate the changing publishing landscape and the move towards open access.”
A representative from the Chemical Society of Japan said: “The CSJ is pleased to commence this joint publication with OUP in 2024. OUP's excellent online platform will help strengthen our publication processes, promote the publication of high quality papers, and enhance the international recognition of our journals. We also look forward to working with OUP to further contribute to the progress of open science, with a shared focus to support sustainable open access publishing through transformative agreements.
