Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power Station (Parkview)

Central London
Project Description: Environmental & Asbestos Services
Value:  75k (Total 450k)
2007 – Mid 2008 (6 months)

Project Detail

The first stage was a full environmental and asbestos assessment/survey of the site prior to initial remediation.  The investigation included heavy metals, water, asbestos, paint, oils, acids (tanks), drains, concrete and brick assessments.

Following the site investigations we tendered the required remediation via specification and procured the project with the client to remove asbestos contamination to buildings and land.

Asbestos was a major factor and the remedial package was in excess of 300k.  The remediation included periodic management and supervision of the operatives undertaking the works.  Control of operatives was imperative due to the large and sensitive site and the repetitive nature of the works removing minor reoccurring items such as gaskets and floor debris the station and surrounding land.

There was also a large single operation within a specific ancillary building which was purely dust removal from the entire building.  Very repetitive cleaning/wiping of services utilising numerous operatives.  Maintaining the standard was a key factor to ensure a satisfactory and successful outcome.

On such a high profile sensitive site supervision and control was key.  The site manager was in constant communication with the client and there representatives advising on progress and periodic issues ensuring compliance at all times.
