Functional safety without safe I/O modules

Press release -

Functional safety without safe I/O modules

The new Safe AI solution package from Phoenix Contact processes safety-related analogue values. With this TÜV-certified and software-based safety solution, safety-related analogue I/O modules are no longer required. The solution package also includes a consultation service provided by our safety experts.

Phoenix Contact has been active in the field of functional safety for many years and offers a comprehensive portfolio of products and services for this area. With the Safe AI solution package, an automation solution for PROFINET applications is available for the first time, which can process physical measured values in a safety-related way in the standardised range from 4 to 20 mA. This is based on standard sensors. As such, no safe analogue input modules should be installed, since the safe processing of signals is fully performed by the software.

The solution package is TÜV-certified. This enables you to implement safety functions up to SIL 3 and PL e. As such, you can even protect against considerable risk potential. The solution package also includes expert advice for functional safety from Phoenix Contact.
