Samsung Announces Price Tag Of SIM-Free Galaxy S4 Mini

In recent weeks, there have been plenty of rumours about new versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 hitting the market. Among these are the Galaxy S4 Mini, a smaller, lower spec but more affordable version of the South Korean manufacturer's popular new smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini was officially announced by Samsung last week, and will be fully showcased to the public at the upcoming Samsung Premier event in London, on June 20^th. Following the announcement of the device, the details regarding its specifications have now been made official. Many of its features coincide with previous rumours, with key specifications including a 4.3 inch super AMOLED display, 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and 8 megapixel camera. While these features will be downgraded from its flagship counterpart, the Galaxy S4 Mini has the same software package as the Galaxy S4, including Android 4.2.2 Jellybean OS and TouchWiz Nature UX interface.

As expected, the device will be more affordable than the Galaxy S4, but uSwitch has recently reported that the price may not be as low as many people had previously thought, for the SIM-free model at least. The website reports that the phone has been listed for £389.99 on the website of a prominent UK retailer, and Samsung Ukraine listing the phone for $600 (just under £400), with more info available at the original report.

While this may be more expensive than was previously thought, the device still offers plenty of impressive features, and has a superior spec list to many devices with a similar price tag. Therefore, many people will see this as a reasonable cost for the phone. It also suggests that Samsung is planning to sell the majority of Galaxy S4 Mini handsets through networks on pay monthly contracts which will likely result in higher sales.
