The Huawei Ascend D Quad And The HTC One X-An Introduction
The HTC One X is one of our favourite mobile handsets to be launched in 2012. This excellent phone offers lightning fast operation speeds along with a very high quality display. This model is facing competition from an unlikely source in the shape of the Huawei Ascend D Quad, a premium handset from the relatively new manufacturer based in China. We take a look at the design of these two models and also see how the devices compare for screen technology.
The new HTC One X is one of the nicest looking handsets that HTC have ever released. Over the past two years the company have released a succession of generic looking devices that were often overshadowed by many competitors models. Things have changed this year and it is evident that the developers have spent a considerable amount of time making the One X an incredibly stylish handset. The model is very slim at just 8.9mm in depth and the very thin bezel that surrounds the screen contributes to the aesthetic appeal of this device. The screen on the phone is slightly contoured and this blends very well with the rounded corners offered on the chassis. The Huawei Ascend D Quad also appeals in the looks department. The model is actually exactly the same depth as the HTC phone and offers a very similar appearance with its curved edges and screen that dominates the fascia. A slight bulge is present towards the bottom of the back panel and this makes the handset sit very nicely in the palm of your hand. The model boasts a very sleek finish however which we feel is not as appealing as the more textured design that the One X offers.
Both of these devices feature very large screens which makes them perfect for multi media use and web browsing. The HTC One Xuses the larger screen of the two models which measures a massive 4.7 inches. This display uses the very latest Super IPS LCD technology which delivers a great depth of colour and excellent viewing angles. This capacitive touchscreen is capable of displaying a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a pixel density of 312 PPI which puts the model in the same bracket as leading devices such as the iPhone 4S. The Huawei Ascend D Quad incorporates a smaller 4.5 inch display which makes it less suitable for multi media usage but also helps it to offer an improved pixel density. Although the model can display an identical resolution to the One X the pixel per inch rating jumps to 326. Despite this slight increase there really is little to choose between the two models in this area with both devices capable of displaying excellent image quality.
The HTC One X may be the handset that more consumers are familiar with but the Huawei Ascend D Quad offers similar specification in many areas. Both models sport a very stylish design coupled with a high quality screen perfect for a variety of different uses.
The HTC One X is available now and the Huawei Ascend D Quad is coming soon.
