The iPhone 5-NFC May Not Be Boasted By This New Device
The new iPhone 5 is almost ready to be unveiled by Apple and we have been given a pretty good idea about what features the model will sport thanks to a string of internet rumours and reports. One feature that was set to feature was NFC although there are now doubts as to whether this wireless technology will actually appear on the model.
We have seen a succession of smartphone launched that feature NFC and the iPhone 5 was the next in line to be released but there are question marks over how effective this type of transmission would be on the new phone. NFC is short for Near Field Communication and it is a type of wireless transmission that is effective over very short distances. NFC would enable the phone to be used at selected terminals in retail outlets to complete transactions and it also is used as a method of transferring data between two devices. Recent image appeared online reporting to show components used in the iPhone 5 and one chip pictured was reported as an NFC chip. A leading internet site, Anandtech has questioned whether the images are correct as the new metallic body of the phone would severely restrict NFC transmission. All other phones that it features on are plastic or polycarbonate which does not limit the service. They have also stated that the chip pictured is too small as it needs to incorporate a large wire coil to act as an antenna. A smaller chip is possible but this would once again limit the transmission, something that Apple would be highly unlikely to consider.
With or without NFC the new iPhone 5 phone will offer enough great specification to see the model become a huge success with consumers. Although there is no official details released at present we have a good idea about a number of features that the phone will sport. One thing Apple have confirmed is that the device will run on the new iOS6 operating system that will deliver a large number of improvements. Siri will now be turbo charged and respond to a wider variety of questions as well as interact with third party applications. We will also see Facebook feature enabled on the handset so tasks such as uploading photos and posting statuses will be quicker than ever before. Other new features likely to be present are a new 4 inch Retina Display and a quad core processor that should help the model to be the fastest on the market.
The iPhone 5 is likely to be unveiled this month and when it is we will know exactly what the model will have to offer and whether feature such as NFC will play a part on this exciting new device.
