A Comparison Of Design On The Nokia Lumia 900 And The HTC Titan 2

The Windows Mobile operating system is growing in popularity and this year we have seen several new models unveiled that run on this system. Two of the most impressive Windows devices are the new Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan 2 which both feature some powerful hardware and great features. We take a look at the design and screen quality present on both of these new models.

When it comes to design the Nokia Lumia 900 is one of the best looking handsets on the market. The model strongly resembles the Nokia N9 which is not a bad thing considering that this was one of the most stylish devices Nokia have ever released. There are hardly any curves present on the device with Nokia favouring sharp angular edges to compliment the neat profile that the model boasts. The 900 also comes in a range of striking colours which look superb. These colours are evident on the slim bezel that surrounds the screen and also on the back panel of the phone. The model measures 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5mm and weighs a reasonable 160 grammes. The HTC Titan 2 incorporates a massive 4.7 inch screen which means that the phone is physically larger than the 900 at 132 x 69 x 13mm but the weight is 13 grammes less at just 147 grammes which is surprising for a device with such a large display. The Titan is an attractive handset but it does look rather generic with its neatly curved corners and back panel. The Lumia 900 eclipses the Titan and many of its other rivals in this area.

As you would expect from two flagship devices both of these models incorporate some superb screen technology. The Nokia Lumia 900features a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen which uses Nokia Clearblack technology to help produce naturally deep dark tones and great viewing angles even in very bright conditions. The display offers the same resolution as the Lumia 800 which is 800 x 480 pixels but the screen on this handset is larger than the 3.7inch variety used on the 800 so there is a drop in pixel density to just 217 pixels per inch. The HTC Titan uses a screen of the S-LCD variety which can produce a high quality of image although not as vivid as the AMOLED screen that the Lumia 900 uses. The HTC device displays the same resolution as the Nokia but the massive 4.7inch screen means that the pixel density drops to 199PPI. Another advantage of the Lumia 900 display is that it is made from Gorilla Glass which is a very durable material that boasts excellent scratch resistant properties.

The Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan 2 are two of the very best windows phones available but the Nokia outshines its rival in this comparison. In terms of design we find the angular finish of this device more appealing while the AMOLED display offers a crisper image and higher pixel density than the HTC handset.
