HTC’s Peter Chou looks for Spanish Good Samaritan who helped him at MWC 2014

A man riding a green Honda Scoopy helped Peter Chou, HTC CEO, get to MWC 2014 on time.

HTC wrote on its blog:

Attention! Do you live in Barcelona or have been there recently? Do you drive a green motorcycle? Is it a Honda Scoopy with a yellow plate? Is your heart the size of a tropical pineapple, you just can’t fit in your chest? We need you to ask yourself these questions, because we are looking for an unknown motorcyclist who last Monday February the 24th made the biggest of favours to someone having a lot to do with us.

And this someone is no other than HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, who was travelling early in the morning from the hotel where he was staying to the Mobile World Congress where he had a meeting at Fira Barcelona. That morning, our executive took a cab, which should have dropped him off in just over 10 minutes.

But few know beyond the seas how the city of Barcelona can become during mayor trade fairs (and WMC is the largest of the season). So, suddenly, Peter Chou found himself immersed on a huge traffic jam that came between him and his important appointment for which he had travelled for almost 12.000 kilometres and which was now just a stone’s throw away.

Peter Chou realized this was definitely not the best day of his life (even though it had just started). Or maybe it was, because just at that precise moment, a timely motorcyclist passed by the cab, gaining meters over the trapped cars. Without thinking twice, Peter Chou told the cab driver to honk at the motorcyclist and he got out of the car and asked the biker to do him the enormous favour of taking him to Fira Barcelona.

The biker accepted willingly, and peeling their knees off zigzagging between the cars, they arrived at the right point of entry of the trade fair in barely 10 minutes. Not only that, the pal even left Peter Chou at the closest door possible to the meeting! – That, is what we call Spanish efficiency.

However, the man did not accept the money that Peter Chou was offering him for the favour. He rejected it; and pulling from the most typical Spanish humour and hospitality, urged Peter not to waste a second in gratitude and rush to his appointment, since for that reason had he dropped everything to help a stranger who, most likely, he would never see again.

But you never know, because moved by this man’s kindness, Peter Chou is now determined to find this anonymous biker and compensate him for his gesture. So, if you are the person who rescued HTC’s CEO from a traffic jam, or know the protagonist of this story, please contact us through our social networks – whether Facebook or Twitter- with the hashtag #HTCseeksBiker.

The information we have is that he is a good-looking man, 45-50 years old, riding a Green Honda Scoopy with a yellow plate. The adventure started at 8:24 in the morning, as Peter Chou stopped the motorcyclist and finished at 8:35 as they arrived to the exact entry of the fair. If you have any information that may lead us to him, you are already taking too long to contact us! Or if you prefer, you may send us an email toinfo@htc-one.es.
