The White iPhone 4 8GB And The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc-Which Model Comes Out On Top
Apples decision to launch an 8GB version of the white iPhone should see the model compete with some of the more mainstream phones available rather than being restricted to just the premium end of the market. We take a look at this latest addition and compare it with one of the most popular Sony Ericsson devices of the past year, the excellent Xperia Arc.
There is no doubt that both of these models are among the most attractive you are likely to encounter. The White iPhone 4 8GB offers a design unlike any other thanks to both sides of the phone being constructed from glass. Besides giving the phone a premium look and feel it also means that this white version looks very different from the black variety. Usually the change in colour would simply signify a different coloured back panel but this model offers a front panel that also sports the white finish meaning the phone really does stand out from the crowd. The Xperia Arc is slightly more traditional in it colouring but does offer a sleek design that immediately catches the eye. This is partly thanks to the overall depth of the phone which is a staggering 8.7mm. The iPhone 4 is thin at 9.3mm but the Sony takes things to another level. Both of these models offer great displays. The quality of Apples Retina display is well documented and there is currently no handset that can match its excellent 640 x 960 resolution or the massive 326 pixels per inch that it can display. The Arc offers a larger 4.2 inch screen with a great resolution of 480 x 854. This makes the handset one of the very best in this area but no match for the prowess of the iPhone.
Connectivity options are extensive on both of these models. The White iPhone 4 8GBcomes with a host of methods to ensure you have a superb connection whether you are at home, work or on the move. All three speeds of WiFi are supported for the very best speeds but the model can also connect to a 3G network to enable fast data transfer speeds whilst on the go. 3G reception is improving all of the time but should you be unlucky enough to stray into an area that is not covered then the device also offers EDGE and GPRS as great back up. The Xperia Arc matches Apple in this department but cannot match the storage capacity that is on offer. With just 320MB of internal storage the phones capacity is considerably less than the 8GB offered on the iPhone. The Sony does have an ace up its sleeve in the form of a micro SD card slot which means this memory can be expanded by up to 32GB. The iPhone does not offer any facilities for external media.
If you are looking for a phone to grab the attention of your friends then you should look no further than these two stylish models. The Xperia Arc matches the White iPhone 4 8GB for looks but cannot keep up with the Apple in terms of technical specification or performance.
The White iPhone 4 8GB and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc are available now.
