The VDS trend forum Pop up my Bathroom at the world-leading ISH fair in Frankfurt turns colour into a talking point for the industry.
At the ISH, the world’s leading fair for the sanitary industry that takes place in Frankfurt from 11 to 15.03, experts from a wide range of disciplines will come together to discuss the key issues facing the industry. Located in the midst of the inspiring Colour Selection exhibition at the Pop up my Bathroom trend platform in the Europa Hall (4.0), the lecture forum is an informative hotspot.
With its evolution into a lifestyle space, the bathroom is experiencing the return of colour as well. The colour transgressions of the 60s and 70s are forgotten – the main thing is to avoid boredom at all costs. Bathroom planners and the industry are responding to the desire for individually and boldly designed bathrooms with an ever growing variety of finishes and unusual arrangements.
When it comes to colour, the industry is awakening from the deep sleep it appeared to fall into following the Bahama Beige and Moss Green trauma of the 1970s. Now, with the advent of on-trend finishes in metallic colour variants, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the lifestyle cultivated in the rest of the interior is conquering the bathroom along with the desire for more cosiness.
The VDS trend forum presents expert talks, panel discussions and workshops on a broad spectrum of topics ranging from individualism all the way to digitalisation. Extensive lecture programme on trends in bathroom design at the ISH 2017.
In the run-up to the ISH 2015, the Pop up my Bathroom trend platform initiated by the German Sanitary Industry Association [Vereinigung Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. (VDS)] explores the needs that should be taken into account by any bathroom concept designed for a specific life stage.
Barrier-free bathrooms don’t exactly have a sexy image. Most people associate them with a small, “disabled-friendly” tiled room dominated by grab rails, a minimalist ambience and the dubious charm of hospital furniture. However, it looks as if this image is about to undergo some fundamental changes over the next few years.
At the international ISH trade fair in Frankfurt (10th to 14th March), the “Pop up my Bathroom Atelier” lecture programme will again be shining a spotlight on the latest trend developments in the sanitary industry. The trend forum provides an abundance of ideas, informative presentations and fascinating panel discussions with distinguished speakers and international participants.
In recent years, the bathroom has undergone an astonishing transformation from neglected little room to wellness-centric showpiece. At the same time, home owners, architects and urban planners have to get used to the idea that there’s more to the bathroom’s ongoing development than “just” the best-possible equipment; more than anything else, a structural change is needed as well.
There is much more to the idea of freedom in the bathroom than barrier-free accessibility: it involves ergonomics, multifunctionality and aesthetics as well. The experimental platform Pop up my Bathroom will be dedicating the new concept bathrooms it has developed for the ISH 2015 to precisely this theme: bathrooms that accompany people throughout every stage of their lives.
Pop up my Bathroom, an initiative of the German Sanitary Industry Association (Vereinigung Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. [VDS]) and Messe Frankfurt established in conjunction with the ISH, is an experimental platform for architects, bathroom planners, interior designers and journalists.
