Press release -

Groundwork Urge Farmers To Improve Resource Efficiency With Invaluable New Course

The unique course being held as part of The Rural Development Programme for England, will comprise of six half-day sessions, covering the key elements of an Environmental Management System (EMS) through practical and interactive workshops.

A spokesperson from Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire said: “In recent months the European Commission has launched a new initiative aimed at improving the resource efficiency of businesses in the farming and agricultural sectors.  These constant changes can be a minefield, and those who fall foul of the new regulations could face fines or even prosecution.

“The Groundwork Environmental Management System (GEMS) course can help organisations to improve the way that they work and reduce their impact on the environment.  Benefits include making the most of the resources at your disposal, minimising legal risks and becoming a more socially responsible organisation within the eyes of your customer.”

Set to commence on Tuesday October 4th  at the Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire head office in Langley Mill, Derbyshire, the course will explore a number of themes including, how to ensure that your farm is legally compliant, reducing your running costs whilst increasing profits, increasing your client base, mitigating against increasing environmental risks such as climate change, becoming more competitive and even how to ensure the long term sustainability of your farm.

Offered at a reduced price of just £155 down from £575 due to support from LANTRA LandSkills, the course will take place every Tuesday for a total of six weeks between 10am-2pm and lunch will be provided on the day.

Approved by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, farmers who attend GEMS will also have access to an internationally accredited carbon foot-printing tool to help them measure their resource baseline.
