New figures released today (12 June) show that 6.47 million cash deposits were made across the Post Office network in May 2025.

Figures for May 2025 show that the value and volume of transactions are up across the board on 2024 numbers as customers increasingly look to Post Office as a trusted place to deposit and withdrawal cash.

Cash deposits were up 2.7% month-on-month (6.3 million, April 2025) and up 8.3% on last year’s figures (5.97 million, May 2024).

In May, personal cash deposits totalled £1.62 billion, up 4% month-on-month (£1.55 billion, April 2025). Again, figures were up significantly year-on-year, with a 10.7% increase in the value of personal cash deposits against May 2024 figures (£1.46 billion, May 2024).

In May, business cash deposits totalled £1.2 billion, up 1.4% month-on-month (£1.19 billion, April 2025) and up 0.7% year-on-year (£1.19 billion, May 2024).

In May, personal cash withdrawals totalled £962.46 million, up 4.7% month-on-month (£919.25 million, April 2025) and again strongly up 8.2% year-on-year (£889.22 million, May 2024).

Overall, personal and business cash deposits and withdrawals at Post Office totalled £3.82 billion in May.

Ross Borkett, Banking Director at Post Office, said: “The volume and value of cash transactions at Post Office branches in May was up both month-on-month and year-on-year across both business and personal customers. These are impressive figures and demonstrate that people are increasingly choosing post offices as a trusted location to deposit and withdraw their cash.”
