Record-breaking month for cash transactions at Post Office in July
July saw the highest volume and value of cash transactions at Post Office branches on record, according to new figures released today (13 August).
6.76 million cash deposits were made across the UK in July 2025, by both businesses and personal customers. This figure – the highest on record – was up 5% on the previous month (6.44 million, June 2025) and up 5.9% on the previous year too (6.38 million, July 2024).
It was also a record-breaking month for cash withdrawals. Business and personal customers made 7.5 million withdrawals, up 5.7% on June numbers (7.1 million, June 2025) and up 0.3% year-on-year (7.48 million, July 2024).
Together, withdrawals and deposits totalled £3.97 billion in July. This beats the previous record of £3.7 billion which was set in December 2024.
Ross Borkett, Banking Director at Post Office, said: “July marked the start of this year’s summer holidays and we have seen a significant jump in the number of cash withdrawals and deposits at Post Office branches. With Post Office’s branch network spanning the UK, we are a convenient and safe location to access cash whether someone is keeping track of spending at home or budgeting for their holidays elsewhere.”

As of 1 August 2025, 186 hubs have been opened in partnership between Cash Access UK and the Post Office. 226 Banking Hubs have now been announced by LINK with further openings planned for later this year.

Over 30 banks and building societies are part of the Banking Framework which enables their customers to withdraw or deposit cash at any of the Post Office’s 11,500 branches.
