Eco-warriors take on climate change

Youngsters are among Bury’s frontline troops in the ongoing battle to save the planet’s resources.

Pupils at Chesham CP School became Eco-warriors during national Climate Week to highlight how everyone can do their bit.

They joined council staff in the Mill Gate centre to show the public how they are working hard to raise awareness of climate change and how people can combat it by recycling and saving energy.

Staff gave advice to more than 100 people on how to stay warm at home, reduce energy bills, recycle and reuse items, and how to live a more sustainable life while saving money. They also promoted the Greater Manchester Fair Energy scheme, which offers residents the opportunity to reduce their gas and electricity bills. Residents can sign up for free with no obligation, up to 8 April, at www.gmfairenergy.com

Rebuild Bury were also there to let residents know how they can donate goods and quality furniture they no longer want and also buy items that are rebuilt by them. More info at www.rebuildbury.org.uk
