A sense of responsibility permeates ESVAGT

My first 100 days – Peter Strandgaard, Head of Legal

‘My first 100 days at ESVAGT have been extremely educational and exciting. My work in legal has a wide scope; from HR, insurance, IT contracts, vessel and charter contracts to various legal elements in commercial decision making – also at board level. This wide scope is a major plus to the job. I enjoy being part of the process from idea to execution, and the journey throughout ESVAGT’s value chain is really interesting. It has taught me a great deal.’

‘I like being involved in business decisions and I feel that I have been warmly welcomed. It is a real strength that in ESVAGT, we don’t work in silos only thinking about our own little area. Law can be rather theoretical, so the trick for me is to inject commercial value to the business and in the operational work day with my legal background. Any business opportunity has an inherent risk. The work is not theoretical, it is very commercial and operational. I cannot merely refer to what the law stipulates and sit watching from an ivory tower. My job is to suggest a commercial, achievable and legal solution so that we do not expose ourselves inopportunely. I try to bring usable, practical solutions so that the inherent risk is clarified and reconciled whenever a business opportunity comes our way.’

‘One of ESVAGT’s qualities is that we are action-minded and agile, not only in our decisions but in everything we do. At the same time, there is substance and quality to what we do. That is something that we all share. A sense of responsibility permeates ESVAGT. There is a real connection between what we say and what we do.’
