London Sport CEO Tove Okunniwa awarded MBE for Services to Sport

London Sport is thrilled to announce that our Chief Executive Officer Tove Okunniwa has been awarded an MBE for Services to Sport in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Tove joined London Sport in 2017. During her tenure at London Sport, the organisation has made real progress towards its aim of making London the most physically active city in the world.

Tove has overseen the launch of technology incubator programme, Sport Tech Hub, and seen London become a founding city in the Active Citizens Worldwide initiative.

Most recently, she has led the development of London Sport’s new strategy, LDN Moving - a call-to-arms to improve the lives of Londoners through physical activity and sport.

Between 2015 and 2019 Tove was a non-executive director of England Boxing and currently sits on the board of Sport England.

Reacting to the announcement of her MBE, Tove said:

“I believe passionately in sport and physical activity as forces for good, never more so than now as we recover from the covid-19 pandemic.

“The selfless dedication of those who work in community sport is humbling and it is a privilege to work alongside such inspiring people.

“I’m amazed and delighted to receive this award. It is a real honour to be recognised in this way.”

Chair of London Sport Board, Jillian Moore, added:

“This is an incredible and very well-deserved award for an inspirational woman who it has been a privilege to work alongside since I joined London Sport.

“An MBE is fantastic recognition for all the hard work she has put into the sport and physical activity sector over many years, and I would like to thank Tove for everything she’s done for London Sport.”
