Press release -

“New office to provide support for job seekers in Crawley”

Henry Smith MP and Mayor of Crawley, Councillor Keith Blake, formally opens RBLI’s new office in Overline House.  RBLI, working in partnership with G4S, provides employability support to long term unemployed customers through the Government’s flagship Work Programme.

The Work Programme is an initiative from the coalition Government which underpins their objectives for full employment and eradication of child poverty.  The aim of the programme is to combine the skills and expertise of a range of Organisations, particularly specialist providers, to support the longer term unemployed move into sustainable employment.

RBLI has been successfully delivering Work Programme across a number of areas in the South East and to date has helped around 300 job seekers in Crawley to find work.   RBLI has developed a number of key local partnerships with employers, other support agencies and Jobcentre Plus and has no doubt that these will be important for future ongoing successes.

David Jessop, Director of Operations for RBLI states “RBLI has been a successful provider of Welfare to Work programmes across the south east for many years.    It has a reputation for delivering high quality employment related support and has been very successful in achieving sustained employment outcomes for its customers.   Working in partnership with G4S, local businesses and agencies in Crawley, RBLI is confident that it will continue to make a significant contribution to delivering a successful programme.   This new office will provide first class facilities for customers seeking work.  Not only will Work Programme customers be able to visit the office to look for work, local employers can benefit from a dedicated space in which to conduct interviews for their vacancies from a pool of candidates carefully matched to their vacancy specifications”

As well as playing a significant role in delivering Work Programme across Sussex, RBLI will continue to provide welfare and employability support to Armed Forces Communities.     This has been a key element of RBLI’s activity since it was established and remains a priority objective of future strategy.    It is currently involved in supporting the MOD to deliver an interim Army Recovery Capability and provides assessment and employability training to wounded Armed Forces personnel transitioning from their roles within the Army into civilian employment.

“Work Programme is a key component of this Government’s Get Britain Working campaign and I am delighted to open these new offices to support its ongoing delivery” said Henry Smith MP.  “Providing job seekers with the right facilities and support makes a real difference to their attitude to work and their ability to find it.

Organisations such as RBLI play a significant role in supporting Government initiatives such as the Big Society, Welfare to Work, Lifelong Learning and I look forward to watching them build on what they have proved so successful in doing over the past ninety years”
