Press release —
Recharge to launch AR content at AWEA Windpower 2013
Recharge, the global source for renewable energy news, will utilize state-of-the-art Augmented Reality (AR) technology in a special US edition of its monthly magazine, which has been produced especially for AWEA’s Windpower 2013 conference and exhibition in Chicago (May 5-8).
Recharge’s bumper 80-page May issue is packed with features on the US wind industry, including an inside look at GE’s plans to make wind subsidy-free through innovative technology -- hyper-long fabric blades, generators powered by superconducting electromagnets, and ‘intelligent’ wind farms.
We also examine: the changing political environment for US wind following President Obama’s re-election; the Pentagon’s multi-billion-dollar renewables plans; the meteoric rise of Duke Energy’s wind business; and the exciting prospects for the US offshore sector.
Our AR initiative allows readers to bring the pages of Recharge to life using their smart phones or tablets, and experience video, extra photos and even alternative Recharge covers using a simple app. The magazine also features a pull out map of the US wind market, which can be updated digitally using the AR technology.
“I am sure our readers are going to have a lot of fun interacting with our US special edition in Chicago,” says Recharge Editor-in-Chief Ben Backwell . “I am really excited with the content we have put together, which I think reflects the renewed sense of optimism and dynamism that we can feel in the US wind market.”
To mark the release of this special edition, Recharge is offering all attendees at AWEA Windpower 2013 the chance to subscribe to the Recharge news service -- including print, online and smartphone/tablet editions -- for six months for the price of three, meaning subscribers will pay only $95 for access worth $190.
