Rare Creative Group, based in Sheffield, has helped NatWest to pilot its new
national campaign, Working With You.  As
a result of the successful pilot, more than 130 NatWest relationship managers
in Yorkshire & Humberside will now spend two days a year working for their
customers.  The project will help bank
managers gain a better understanding of the day-to-day challenges facing businesses,
and help them to provide essential advice to help businesses move forward. 


of the first participants in the programme was Faith Douglas, a NatWest
Business Manager in Sheffield.  Faith spent the day working for marketing
agency Rare Creative Group, which has been her customer since she started her
current role in 2009.   Rare provides a
range of services from web design and database building to creative work for
advertising campaigns, mailshots and company branding.  The company employs 15 staff and focuses on
projects in the public sector, construction, renovation and home improvement
markets amongst others.


Commenting on the day, Faith said: “I chose Rare Creative Group because I wanted to spend
the time in a fast-paced business where no two days are the same.  Understanding the pressures that the
directors, and the rest of the team, face was a real eye-opener - there’s
nothing like seeing for yourself firsthand what it’s like.  I’m now looking forward to visiting more businesses in Sheffield and across Yorkshire to see how we can support them.”


Steve Beaumont, director at Rare Creative Group, added: “When Faith approached me
about spending a day with us I thought it was a fantastic idea.  Faith rolled up her sleeves and got to work, supporting Rare’s sales drive at an exhibition, returning to the office to
collate data and follow up with phone calls. Finally, she reported the results
back to the team to help us understand what we had achieved, which included booking
in a new business meeting.  It was a good
opportunity to show her how we operate, and I’m hoping that through the
experience she will be able to act as a member of our extended team and help us
continue our period of growth.

important; to have a person outside our organisation looking out for us,
watching how they can help and alerting us to new developments, can only be of
benefit to us.  Faith has even referred
clients to us, which is something we really appreciate.”   


Through the programme each NatWest relationship manager is tasked with examining how
the business operates, assessing its goals and ambitions, plus any barriers or
challenges it faces.  A key part of the
Working With You programme is to collect and share the information from each
visit amongst all relationship managers to ensure they are better equipped to
help the bank’s 1.2m SME customers in theUK. 


The Working With You programme is for all relationship managers in England
and Wales who look after businesses with a turnover of up to £25m.  The programme also extends to senior directors and credit teams.  Working With You aims to provide NatWest’s relationship managers and other staff with a greater insight into the workings of SME businesses and the pressures their owners or managers face.
