Press release -

Ready to have a ball!

Final preparations are underway for a truly indulgent celebration next week – when Rochdale Town Hall stages a Masquerade Ball, to raise vital funds for two local charities.

The glittering evening takes place on Saturday (5 October), with proceeds shared between Springhill Hospice and the domestic violence charitable organisation – Women’s Housing Action
Group.  The evening marks the launch of ‘Number One Riverside – Giving Back’ a new charity set up by council staff to raise money for local causes.

Singer and Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh will be the star guest, and is set to sing during the evening, alongside her daughter Emily Cunliffe.  The evening also includes a champagne reception followed by a three course meal, fund-raising silent auction and entertainment in the Great Hall featuring pianist Chalce Williams, singer  Ashley Mellon and DJ Entice.

Deputy Chief Executive and Chair of the Charity, Linda Fisher said support for the evening has been fantastic:

“We have been overwhelmed by the support and generosity from everyone, not just from people buying tickets but from local businesses contacting us to donate prizes… I really hope we can achieve a sell-out which would be absolutely fantastic news for our two very deserving charities.”

Tickets are available for £35 each, and tables of 10 are £300. They can be bought online from www.rochdale.gov.uk/events or in person from Rochdale Town Hall reception.

“Masks are optional, the main thing is that people have a good time and help us raise lots of money!  It promises to be a spectacular evening of entertainment in the perfect surroundings of the beautiful town hall.” added Linda.

Kirsty Rhodes, Managing Director of Women’s Housing Action Group, a charitable organisation founded in 1981 to offer housing and support to vulnerable women said:

“I would like to add my sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us so far by buying tickets. The money raised will contribute to maintaining our vital support services … your help is appreciated by everyone, thank you.”

The ball is organised by ‘Number One Riverside – Giving Back’ with support from over 25 local businesses including JD Alexander Jewellers, Dolly Birds Beauty Salon, Stage Sound and Light Ltd, Treat Yourself Boutique, Gregory Couzens and Number 10 Gift Shop & Gallery.
