Scattering Ashes in final for National Awards

Scattering Ashes has been selected from hundreds of nominees to go through to the final stages of this year’s glittering Good Funeral Awards ceremony at the University of Winchester on Saturday 5 September 2015.

The awards are in their fourth year and will be hosted by Ian Lavender, familiar to many as Private Pike in the BBC’s Dad’s Army.

Scattering Ashes is a finalist in the Best Bereavement Resource category in recognition of all the helpful advice on the website www.scattering-ashes.co.uk. People struggle with what to do with their loved ones ashes so there is advice about the law of where and how you can scatter, which organisations and land-owners allow scattering as well as ways to hold a meaningful ceremony. This advice and more is gathered together in a guide book ‘Celebrating the Life of a Loved One: what to do with their ashes’ which is rated 5 stars on Amazon.

“This little book fills an important niche. It’s the only one out there that brings together everything you need to know. It is enriched by years of research and experience. And it’s highly readable.” said Chief Judge and author of the Good Funeral Guide, Charles Cowling.

Richard Martin founder of scattering Ashes, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be selected as finalists!.With around 75% of us in Great Britain choosing cremation over burial* we need to make sure that people can feel confident in what they choose to do with the ashes, we just try to help people make the best decision for them, their family and future generations.”

The Good Funeral Awards is part of the second Ideal Death Show weekend http://www.idealdeathshow.co.uk

*of the 574,093 deaths recorded in Great Britain 2014, 429,254 were cremations.
