Sixt Morph’s in Cardiff on St David’s Day
Happy St Davids Day!
St David, the patron saint of Wales, is a peerless, noble figurehead for the Welsh nation, a unifying and benevolent symbol in a dangerous and greedy world.
Saint David’s Day is the feast day of Saint David, and falls on 1 March each year. The first day of March was chosen in remembrance of the death of Saint David. Tradition holds that he died on that day in 589. The date was declared a national day of celebration within Wales in the 18th century.
With this in mind, four of Cardiff’s Sixt Morphs decided to also celebrate St David’s Day in the heart of Cardiff. They gave away 1000 daffodils – Wales’ national flower – at the tenth National St David’s Day parade which now attracts thousands of participants, spectators and international media interest.
It took less than an hour to give away all 1,000 stems and the Morphs were very popular indeed, they also took part in some traditional Welsh dancing and made a visit to the Cardiff Tourist Information Board, one of Sixt’s new partners.
