Packed and diverse programme on eleventh edition Solar Weekend

EINDHOVEN – The Bloody Beetroots, Adam Beyer, Typhoon, Jett Rebel, Vitalic, Carl Craig, Don Diablo, and Nouveau Riche All Stars are a few of the many big names that will shine on Solar Weekend this year. Extrema’s festival is well-known for its broad line-up and creative interpretation.

The most creative festival in Holland definitely has a line-up to be proud of. With upcoming talent and big names – DJs, rappers, and bands – there is something there for everyone. Solar Weekend is made up by many different stages to the likes of many different genres and its public. The main stage is where it all comes together. This year, one of the seasoning artists on this biggest stage is Jett Rebel. This multi-instrumentalist has conquered the hearts of music enthusiasts and women all over Holland. With his tight, polished band and funky pop songs he is often mistaken for Prince, which naturally isn’t the worst compliment one can recieve. Moreover, Vitalic and The Bloody Beetroot’s Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo are also travelling all the way to Roermond. These titans om the world of electronic music are always a guarantee to success and a great party.

Another artist that absolutely turned every musical gathering upside down is Typhoon. The rapper has transcended hip hop with his unknowingly successful album Lobo Da Basi. Other acts on the Main Stage are the Catalan party animals of La Pegatina, FeestDJRuud, Afterpartees, and Gramatik.

Techno en House
The absolute epitome of Techno music and the face of the Swedish Techno scene is is Adam Beyer. Other great headliners are Carl Craig, who has earned his electronical stripes in the past 25 years and Monika Kruse, one of Berlin’s most popular DJs. Then there’s Speedy J. This Techno mastermind from Rotterdam is no unfamiliar face to many and has been around for quite a while now.

The House of House might be the most popular stage of Solar Weekend, and – like every year – unravels a breathtakingly expressive decor with ditto artists. For instance, Don Diablo will be making the magic happen behind his turntables here. This Dutch DJ/producer is spending more time abroad than in his own country nowadays, and it would be safe to say you can expect the best house by this mastermind. Franky Ricardo is another Dutch House DJ who is truly making a name for himself, and he is praised for his turntabling style and producing arts. Sick Individuals, Gregor Salto, Erick E vs Roog and many others complete the House of House’s programme. Then there’s RAUW. The unforgettable stage by Joost van Bellen: marathonrunner in the house scene and lifelong friend of the festival. Together with British agency Decked Out!, Van Bellen has brought some great names into Solar’s line-up: Vitalic, Alex Metric, Mike Mago and Feadz.

Hiphop
Apart from Typhoon, there is so much more to experience when it comes to Hip Hop, RnB, and Dancehall. For instance, the Nouveau Riche All Stars ensemble will be the life of the party. The group will be bringing along Mr. Polska, Ronnie Flex, Boaz of the Beatz and many a more Dutch Hip Hop stars.

Other big names in the Container Compound – the stage for Hip Hop – are Extince, Dio, Broederliefde and the Partysquad. Extince definitely isn’t a rookie when it comes to Hip Hop; he is one of the founding fathers of this music genre. The Party Squad sure knows how to party, and will do everything in its power to keep this reputation intact.

Creative Kickstart
Solar Weekend not only gives a voice to familiar artists; the local talents are regarded just as important. A new stage is added to the festival: the Ouwehoeah Stage. Here, six party collectives from Limburg can make a name for themselves and get a chance to throw their own party. In Limburg, the collectives are widely known for their resounding events, and deserve a bigger place to get their talents across. Dennis Behlau, Solar Weekend’s Project Manager, tells us: “Apart from the fact that we want to give our support to the collectives from Limburg, we also think there’s a substantially important interest to involve local talent into our organization. This happens not only during the festival, but the collectives are supported all year round.”

Long Weekend
Outside the programme of the festival days, there will be a third consecutive camping programme. From Thursday onwards, Solar Weekend Festival offers campside guests the chance to figuratively party their butts off: there will be a 72-hours tent, and FeestDJRuud will make sure the guests are in extasy on the Friday night. On Sunday, he will throw a special XXL-show on the Main Stage. The festival takes place on the 30th and 31st of July and on the 1st and 2nd of August at the Maasplassen in Roermond, and names and creative acts will continuously be added to the line-up.
