eReading that’s more natural, smart and social

Slim and lightweight, the new Reader™ PRS-T2 from Sony makes digital reading as natural and immersive as viewing the printed page - whether you’re travelling or relaxing at home.

Enjoy the latest best-sellers from the Reader Store - a dedicated eBookstore offering a simple and uncluttered shopping experience - or favourite classics from your local library on the Reader’s clear, paper-like 6-inch screen. Experience the crisp, clear view of text with super-high contrast and no screen glare, whether you’re indoors or outside in bright sunshine.

With its latest power management capabilities, Sony enables you to read for up to 2 months (with Wi-Fi off) from a single battery charge – double the battery life of the previous Reader model, and plenty of power for lengthy business trips, holidays or extended spells away from home.

Choose from a huge choice of books in a wide range of open digital formats, including the popular EPUB standard. You can buy titles directly with one-touch access to the Reader Store wherever there’s a wireless connection available. Here you will find a wide selection of local and international bestsellers including a selection of top titles from only 20p. Choose your next read from a great collection of new releases and old favourites via the Store button and your book will be downloaded directly to your device in seconds. If you’ve got a valid library card, eBooks can also be borrowed from public lending libraries with simple, seamless wireless access via an on-screen ‘Public Library’ icon.

The new Reader builds on more than five years of development by Sony to deliver a more reader-focused experience. Class-leading E-Ink Pearl technology has been refined by Sony for even more comfortable, flicker-free, life-like reading.

Enjoy smooth, effortless page-turns that won’t slow you down. Pinch in or out and see text zoomed just how you like it on the responsive touchscreen. Reader’s enhanced contextual menu makes it quick and simple to look up highlighted words and passages on Wikipedia® or Google™ wherever a Wi-Fi connection is available.

Don’t keep it to yourself: let all your friends know what you’re reading. Just touch the screen to share your current reading, quotes and reviews with your friends on Facebook.

For the first time, the new Reader PRS-T2 integrates the popular cloud-based aggregation service Evernote. Mark favourite quotes and passages from your current read and upload them to the cloud. You can also download saved content from Evernote to your Reader. Using Evernote Clearly, uploaded articles and web clips from your PC, tablet or smartphone can be read later on your Reader. Once they’re downloaded from the cloud via Wi-Fi, carry on reading saved articles on your Reader whilst you’re on the move.

As part of Sony’s collaboration with Pottermore and the Pottermore Shop (the exclusive home of the Harry Potter eBooks), the new Reader comes with a voucher to redeem against the first eBook in the Harry Potter series free of charge*. Customers can download Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone from the Pottermore Shop following purchase of the new Reader.

The Reader PRS-T2 from Sony can be pre-ordered from tomorrow (August 17th) in a choice of red, white or matte black colour finishes from
