Service Director Appointed at British Stammering Association

Release Date: 6th December

SERVICE DIRECTOR APPOINTED AT BSA

The British Stammering Association has appointed Rachel Everard as Service Director at the BSA.

Rachel is a person who stammers and a highly specialist speech and language therapist, with over 22 years’ experience of working with people of all ages who stammer. She has had strong links with the British Stammering Association since her early 20s where she first turned to the organisation for help and support. In the intervening years she has served as trustee and chair and thanks to the confidence she gained in these roles her life took a new direction when she trained as a speech and language therapist. She specialised as early as she could in working with people who stammer and has combined her clinical work with writing about stammering and researching it.

Everard will take up her new role on 1st February

Jane Powell, CEO, said:

“I am delighted that Rachel has agreed to join the British Stammering Association as Service Director. This is a new post which will be focussed on putting the provision of support and information at the heart of the organisation. We see and hear on a daily basis the struggle parents have around finding information and support for their children, we talk to men and women looking for support in adulthood and who don’t know where to go. We’ve ambitious plans for 2019, and hope to trial out a webchat service for those who stammer in the UK. This is a huge role, and Rachel has the skills and the experience to fill this post.”

Everard said:

“I am very excited about taking on this new role at the BSA, an organisation which has always been close to my heart - without the BSA I wouldn’t be where I am today. I would like everyone who stammers and their families to be given the support they need, at the time that they most need it. I look forward to working with Jane, staff and members in realising the BSA vision of making the world a better place for people who stammer.”
