WORLD-WIDE CALL FOR 'THE RIGHT TO STUTTER'

STAMMA has signed a declaration alongside 72 other organisations around the world calling for the right to stutter. International Stammering Awareness Day is usually filled with stories of 'overcoming' one's stammer. This year STAMMA and other countries around the world are calling for the right to stammer to be recognised, accepted and space made for people to talk in the way that they do.

STAMMA is disappointed in the judgement in this case. Many people who stammer use avoidance techniques to hide or manage their stammer to the point that when they say that they stammer, struggle to talk, they are disbelieved. Future litigants need to demonstrate that the stammer has a significantly adverse on their life and we'd urge them to bring in professional expertise to help them prepare.
