Juliet Bouverie, Chief Executive of the UK Charity, Stroke Association, has been awarded the Order of the British Empire Medal (OBE) in the Queen’s 2019 New Year’s Honour’s list, for services to stroke survivors.
A Heywood stroke survivor and his wife have donated 37 Christmas hampers created by themselves, friends and family, to help rebuild lives after stroke this festive season.
According to a new survey by the Stroke Association, the favourite activities at Christmas time include decorating the tree (45%), cooking Christmas dinner (41%) and playing with the kids/grandkids (33%). Yet many of the UK’s 1.2 million stroke survivors are no longer able to enjoy these and many other Christmas pleasures.
