Kingston resident holds a open house for the Stroke Association

A local Kingston resident is hosting her sixth annual open house on Sunday 13 August from one o’clock to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association.

Stephanie Lippiatt was inspired to organise the event after her grandson, now 15, had a stroke shortly after he was born.

Stephanie said “I’ve hosted five garden parties over the past few years, and the support from everyone has been amazing. My garden backs out on the beautiful riverside. I’m often found in my garden, and that’s why I wanted to share it with others.

“I’ve arranged for seven local bands, who all give their time for free to join us on the afternoon It’s so lovely to see people having picnics and bringing along their families to listen to good music, all in aid of a really good cause. We are grateful to Fullers Brewery who again this year are contributing a couple of barrels of their lovely beer available for a small donation.

“My grandson, Dylan, had a devastating stroke at birth and received excellent care in Manhattan where he lived, and he has recovered well. I want everyone to have the best care they can too. Just knowing that the money I helped to raise will go towards helping other stroke survivors is incredible”.

Gabi Field, Head of Community & Events Fundraising at the Stroke Association, said: “With more than 100,000 strokes in the UK each year, it’s vital that we have people like Stephanie to help raise funds. We’re incredibly grateful to her for choosing to support the Stroke Association; the money raised will go a long way in helping to support people who are living with the effects of stroke, and their families and carers, as well as help to prevent people from having a stroke.”
