Stroke Association invites local residents to the launch of a new support service

The Stroke Association in East Sussex is inviting local residents to the launch event of a new support service.

On Thursday 18 May from 11am local residents can visit the Stroke Association at St Luke’s Parish Centre in Stone Cross to learn more about stroke, the charity’s new support service in East Sussex, and enjoy a special performance from the Stroke Association’s Sing Out for Stroke choir.

Tara Galloway, Interim Lead for South East Coast for the Stroke Association, said: “Our East Sussex Stroke Recovery service officially launched in February this year. We’re really excited to be opening the doors to local residents so they can find out more about support for stroke survivors and their loved ones in East Sussex. This will be a great opportunity for residents to meet other stroke survivors and carers in the area.

“Stroke has a massive and sudden impact. People’s lives are changed forever - not just for the stroke survivor, but for their family and friends as well. Our new Stroke Recovery Service in East Sussex helps people affected by stroke rebuild their lives.”

The event takes place in Make May Purple, the Stroke Association’s national stroke awareness month. Across the UK, more than a million people are rebuilding their lives after stroke. By supporting Make May Purple you can help us to make sure stroke gets the attention it deserves and to raise vital funds for innovative research into stroke care and treatment.

The charity’s new service is funded by East Sussex County Council in partnership with three local Clinical Commissioning Groups: High Weald Lewes Havens, Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford, and Hastings and Rother.

The East Sussex Stroke Recovery Service launch event will take place at St Luke’s Parish Centre in Stone Cross on Thursday 18 May from 11am to 2pm. For more information, please contact Tara Galloway on Tara.Galloway@stroke.org.uk or 01622 351966.
