Press release -

Stroke Association needs you to help conquer stroke

The Stroke Association is appealing to runners in Norfolk to join the charity for their annual Beat the Tide run, on Sunday 24 June.

Now in its seventh year, the 10k course starts at Alive Oasis Leisure Centre, and takes you along the Norfolk’s beautiful coastline.

George Burroughs, Community and Events Fundraising Manager from the Stroke Association, said: “Every five minutes across the UK, someone’s life is turned upside down by stroke. By signing up to Beat the Tide, each runner will help us ensure that we can continue to support stroke survivors and their families as they rebuild their lives.”

At least half of all strokes could be prevented if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control, eating healthily and taking regular exercise. The money raised through Beat the Tide will help the Stroke Association support more people affected by stroke in the East of England.

The run starts at 11am and entry fee is just £20. All runners receive a technical running t-shirt and medal. For more information about entering or volunteering at Beat the Tide, visit www.stroke.org.uk/beatthetide or call 0300 330 0740.
