Stroke Association response to DHSC's 'Major conditions strategy: case for change and our strategic framework'

Juliet Bouverie OBE, Chief Executive of the Stroke Association said: "When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Stroke destroys hundreds of thousands of lives every year, and costs the UK economy £26 billion annually. But with proper planning and resourcing of care, it is largely preventable, treatable and recoverable. It is good to see stroke being recognised as the major condition it is. We welcome the engagement with DHSC to date and look forward to the strategy resulting in increased government priority for stroke and solutions which ensure that all those affected by, or at risk of, stroke have equal access to high quality stroke prevention, treatment and care”.
