Building the Future of Gaming: Women Create Games Forum Debuts this September
The inaugural Women Create Games Forum debuts on September 13, 2024, at Event Horizon School's Milan campus; The full event will be broadcast live on the Event Horizon YouTube page, making it accessible to a global audience
The forum will feature keynote speakers from leading gaming companies, including Nacon Studio Milan, Frontier Developments, Criterion/EA, Milestone Srl, Avalanche Studios, and Xbox Game Content & Studios
Milan, Italy – September 4, 2024 – The inaugural Women Create Games Forum debuts next week on Friday, September 13, 2024 on Event Horizon School’s Milan campus, with a mission to foster collaboration, mentorship, and mutual support among women in the gaming industry, while sharing game career advice and experience with game developers globally.
The full event will be broadcast live, for free and in English, on the Event Horizon YouTube page from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm CEST. Event breaks will feature live interviews and video content focused on game development.
The Women Create Games forum, organized by Event Horizon School and Women in Games Italia, offers intensive education on game careers to developers worldwide. This day-long event features six speakers from leading studios like Electronic Arts, Nacon, and Frontier Developments, representing key areas of game development including Art, Engineering, Design, and Production. Participants will gain insights into topics such as Environment Art, User Interface, Game Production, Lighting, and Game Design.
In addition to inspiring talks, the event will feature interactive Q&A sessions, networking opportunities, and chances for attendees to engage directly with industry leaders. The forum is supported by industry leaders committed to diversity in gaming, including Xbox, Predator Gaming (Acer), Skillsearch, Swipe Right PR, Women in Games, and devcom.
Featured speakers and their game development topics include:
- Alessandra Tomasina, Senior Producer at Nacon Studio Milan, who will demystify the role of a Game Producer and discuss the unsung heroes of game development.
- Arianna Fusetti, Lighting Artist at Frontier Developments, who will explore the vital role of lighting in storytelling and share her career journey in the gaming industry.
- Carola Pettinato, Associate Game Designer at Criterion/EA, who will delve into the game design process, highlighting the critical decisions that impact player experiences.
- Irene Filoscia, GFX/UI Programmer at Milestone Srl, who will discuss the importance of teamwork and synergy in game development, focusing on how programmers act as the glue holding diverse teams together.
- Lisa Gobbi, Senior Environment Artist at Avalanche Studios, who will share insights from her transition from the Italian to the British gaming industry, emphasizing the challenges and rewards of working internationally.
- Maria Elena Silletti, Lead UI at Nacon Studio Milan, who will highlight the importance of user interface design in meeting player expectations and enhancing user experience.
- Fiona Cherbak, Lead People & Talent Manager for Xbox Game Content & Studios, will kick off the proceedings with a brief keynote address and introduce the speakers.
The Women Create Games Forum is open to students, professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about the contributions of women in the gaming industry. The event will be broadcast live on Event Horizon School’s YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.
