Phasmophobia Developers Launch Publishing Label: Kinetic Publishing
The new label aims to offer independent studios the support that Daniel Knight, CEO & solo developer of the genre-defining title Phasmophobia, would have wanted
SOUTHAMPTON, UNITED KINGDOM January 8th 2026 - Kinetic Games, the developer behind the genre-defining horror game Phasmophobia, which has surpassed over 25 million copies in early access, have revealed the launch of a new publishing label, Kinetic Publishing.
Kinetic Publishing aims to champion innovation within the independent game development space, and help teams on games across a wide range of genres, with a focus on a small slate, meaning each team can receive meaningful attention alongside tailored support.
The new label will offer financial, legal and marketing support and wider development guidance, and with over five years of experience, the Phasmophobia team feel they can provide the help that CEO & Solo developer, Daniel Knight would have wanted when he was launching the game in 2020.
Now leading a team of over 30 , Daniel Knight, CEO of Kinetic Games and Game Director of Phasmophobia said: “It’s such an exciting time for indie game development, I can say that in the past five years I’ve learned so much. The fact we’ve grown so much as a company means we’re now in the place where we want to support studios who come under our wing, and provide the support I'd have appreciated at the start of my journey.”
Kinetic Publishing will be looking to take on creative games from small teams and solo developers globally, who have a clear vision for their title and are 12-18 months from release.
Asim Tanvir, Director of Marketing & Partnerships said: “We want to join the ranks of supportive indie publishers who champion and encourage creativity. We hope the guidance and support that we provide to indie teams will help in ensuring they succeed in what they do best, as well as encouraging innovation within the development space”
The Kinetic Publishing team will be spearheaded by five of the core senior team who’ll each be maintaining visibility across their projects and respective disciplines at the studio. This includes Daniel Knight, the original one-man development team behind Phasmophobia, and now CEO.
He is joined by Asim, who has over 15 years of experience within the gaming and tech industry, having led community, marketing and social for some of the world’s biggest game publishers, including 2K, KONAMI and Zynga.
The Kinetic Games development teams will remain entirely focused on Phasmophobia, with 2025 already having been a big year for the game. This included a number of exciting announcements including the launch of the long-awaited Chronicle Update and new Nell’s Diner map.
The year also saw 16M Steam page visits, 150k new Discord members and an increase of over 700K in broader community growth. The game will have lots more to come in 2026, including its journey to 1.0 launch, with Kinetic Games set to reveal this year’s roadmap soon.
