LONDON – January 27, 2025 – PUBG MOBILE, one of the world’s most popular mobile games, is excited to unveil new data, alongside a special video showcasing the impact of its Play For Green initiative, which introduced conservancy related items, events, maps, and more into PUBG MOBILE. Following Play For Green’s recognition at the 2024 Playing for the Planet Awards, where it won the coveted Media’s Choice trophy, this video highlights the incredible achievements made by PUBG MOBILE players during the initiative as well as the games’ ongoing contributions towards bettering global environmental sustainability.
Over 20 million players participated in the ‘Run For Green’ event, which translated in-game movement into support for real-world conservation projects, with players' combined in-game sprint distance totalling over 4.8 billion kilometres—equivalent to circling the earth 21,000 times. This was transformed into direct support for conservation efforts, protecting over 750,000 square feet of vital ecosystems across Pakistan, Indonesia, and Brazil.
The ‘Preservation Garden’, an educational botanical garden available in the game's Home mode through the Run for Green event, provided players with an engaging opportunity to learn about endangered flora. Nearly 100 million players explored the garden, gaining a deeper understanding of these vital species and the importance of preserving them.
Elsewhere, ‘The Ruins of Erangel’ map series in World of Wonder, created in collaboration with UCL professor Mark Maslin, offered players a glimpse into the potential future impacts of climate change through immersive gameplay. Over 4,000 creators utilised ‘The Ruins of Erangel’ template to craft more than 8,000 maps themed around conservancy related issues, sparking widespread conversation around environmental protection. Combined, official Play For Green maps and player-created maps were played over 1.4 billion times, showcasing the power of collective creativity to engage and educate on critical environmental issues.
PUBG MOBILE extends its sincere thanks to its incredible players, partners, and the Green Game Jam organizers for their support of this initiative, demonstrating how games can serve as a powerful tool for raising environmental awareness, advocating for change, and driving meaningful impact.
