Call to Arms overhauls the game’s combat system and brings new enemies, weapons, armor sets and crafting materials to the hit viking survival game.
SKÖVDE, Sweden, August 20th 2025 - Iron Gate and Coffee Stain Publishing are excited to reveal the latest update coming to their hit viking survival game Valheim, titled Call to Arms! Unveiled in a glorious new trailer during IGN’s gamescom showcase, the update introduces a major combat system update as well as new enemies, armor sets, weapons and crafting materials, and it’s just entered public testing!
Adrenaline & Trinkets
To further enhance Valheim’s often gritty and challenging combat, Iron Gate are introducing a new resource called Adrenaline, tied to a new craftable accessory called Trinkets. Trinkets allow players to accumulate adrenaline through dealing damage to enemies or avoiding their attacks, and once the adrenaline bar fills up the Trinket will activate to further empower their attacks.
Adrenaline can be gained by simply attacking enemies, but also by using certain magic attacks and performing perfect blocks and dodge rolls. There are 13x Trinkets available, and players can choose which accessory they want to craft depending on their playstyle.
Trinkets represent a new layer to Valheim’s combat that players can use to specialise in a combat role of their choice whether they’re looking to dispense methodic, mighty blows or perform flurries of quick, consecutive attacks. This new accessory works in tandem with the multiple armor sets and weapons currently available in the game to deepen the buildcrafting of Valheim.
The Bear Necessities
Watch out vikings, the tenth realm is about to get a lot more dangerous - Bears are making their way into Valheim, and they’re here to throw hands paws. Presenting a new threat for vikings looking to make a name for themselves, bears roam the lush biomes of the tenth realm and, once defeated, drop materials that can be used to craft a new armor set.
Call to Arms is also introducing an array of new crafting materials, a new set of wooden weapons for friendly sparring, three new building pieces and a combat training dummy called Battle Brother that vikings can use to hone their combat skills even further.
The Call to Arms update is available to play on Valheim’s public test branch…now! Players across the world can now slay new beasts and look good doing it on PC, Xbox Series XIS, Xbox One and Mac.
Valheim is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series XIS and Xbox GamePass, as well as on Microsoft Store, PC Game Pass and Steam Early Access for PC and Linux. The official press kit is available here, and you can follow Valheim on Discord.
