In their words: Kristie Mitchell

My sister being ill is probably the worst thing our family has ever had to go through. Because I was young, I didn't completely understand what was happening at the time, but I was old enough to know to be scared. The Sick Children's Trust helped my family even more than I realised at the time.

Being so close to my older sister allowed us to keep a relatively normal family routine. I remember the house having an area for me and my younger sister to play together. It was so important to have a bit of normality when we were playing just like we always had.

It was also crucial for us to see our mum and dad a lot. Of course they wanted and needed to be near to Rebecca, but it was also important for them to see the rest of us as well. Being able to stay in a house a few minutes away from Rebecca actually helped us to become closer as a family, as we were able to be there for each other.

We will be abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower to raise money for The Sick Children's Trust. They helped our family to stay near each other through this traumatic time and we want to help raise money so other families can benefit from the same support during their time of need.
