CIBC trio set to run half marathon
A trio of CIBC employees will be running 13.1 miles in two weeks’ time to show their support for charity The Sick Children’s Trust that supports families across the UK when their children are in need of specialist care, miles away from home.
Karthik Ramamurthy, Antoine Acloque and Phil Chu, based in CIBC’s London office, will be teaming up to complete the city’s most scenic half marathon in a bid to raise £1,200 for the charity. Karthik says:
“We will be representing Team CIBC in the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 11th October, raising money for the great work of The Sick Children’s Trust. The charity has been one of the charities of the year for the CIBC Children’s Foundation for the last two years. We have already reached our target and are delighted that this will go towards helping families with seriously ill children.”
The Sick Children’s Trust runs 10 ‘Homes from Home’ across the UK that provide practical and emotional support to the families of sick children – last year, it help around 3,600 families. It costs £28 per night to provide a family with a room a ‘Home from Home’ so that a child can have their loved ones right by their side.

The Sick Children’s Trust was founded in 1982 by two paediatric specialists Dr Jon Pritchard and Professor James Malpas. They believed that having parents on hand during hospital treatment benefited a child's recovery.
Today we have 10 ‘Homes from Home’ at major hospitals around the country where families can stay free of charge, for as long as they need whilst their child is undergoing treatment.
Every year we help around 3,600 families, but there is a growing demand for our ‘Homes from Home’ as children must increasingly travel long distances to get the specialist treatment they need.
We are working to a future where every family with a seriously ill child in hospital will be able to stay together, just minutes from their child’s bed during their treatment.
