Thule Adventure Team wins Germany’s largest adventure race

The Schwarzwald Adventure Race is the largest adventure race in Germany. It is organized once a year at Münstertal, a town south of Freiburg in south- west of Germany. Teams from all over the world come to compete. The track is rough and consists of 30 km mountain biking, 21 km mountain running, and a couple of additional adventurous elements as a third discipline. This year the teams had to descend into an old mine and master an obstacle course.
– It was a tough race with steep hills and a total altitude of 2540 meters and we really went all in. The weather altered during the race between sun and cold showers. We are very sore in our legs but are looking forward to further challenges and the training camp in France next week, says Martin Flinta, captain of Thule Adventure Team.

Martin Flinta won the race together with team member Per Vestling. They beat the second and third team in the competition, Germany and Hungary, with 40 minutes. As part of the Hungarian team was the European champion in cross country triathlon.

– This race is demanding and the team members do not only have to be in the best of physical shape but also be good at communicating and cooperating with each other. Therefore, it’s fun racing with Per. We complement each other really well and the two of us won this race last year as well, says Martin with a smile.

The Thule Adventure Team is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and consists of five multisport athletes – the Swedes Martin Flinta, Per Vestling and Eva Nyström, and Jacky Boisset and Myriam Guillot from France. Together, they have an impressive list of accomplishments as some of the world’s best multisport athletes. Team members work on endurance and technique 30-40 hours a week. The next challenge for Martin and Per will be Discovery Aim Challenge at Lindvallen, Sweden.
