Walking back to happiness
There’s no denying two-year-old Sophie’s desire to walk. Shortly after I arrive, she crawls over, clings on to my knees with both hands and heaves herself to her feet.
Her tiny fingers grip my jeans as she gingerly hops from one foot to another. Her mouth is ajar with concentration as she looks up with her piercing blue eyes.
‘She’s determined to do it,’ says her mum, Allison Thomlinson. ‘She’s always saying: “Mummy, walk. Mummy, walk.” She knows what she wants to do, but her legs won’t let her.
